Hi there, WordCampers!

Our feedback surveys for WordCamp Toronto 2011 are now available:

(Update) Here are a few observations we’ve made so far:

We need to do a better job covering all experience levels.
We had presentations for beginners and presentations for advanced developers, but the middle ground — between basic user and advanced theme/plugin development — was lacking. Based on this feedback, we’re going to tweak our program plan for next year.

George Brown College is a great venue.
Spacious and accessible, this location was perfect for WordCamp presentations.

Minimize, or remove, the steps required for internet connectivity.
Wireless access was a headache for numerous people. We caught wind of this early, but not early enough – rest assured that this will be at the top of our list for 2012!

The food was fabulous.
Saturday’s breakfast and lunch went over very well.

Installing server software, first thing on a Sunday? Let’s not do that again.
We hear you guys on this one, and we definitely agree. Local installations of WordPress are great (and useful!), but scrambling through the process on a Sunday? Not so much. We’re going to review our approach to workshops for next year. We want everyone to enjoy the hands-on experience of working with WordPress!

Saturday’s schedule (45 minute sessions, 15 minute breaks) was perfect.
Sessions were just the right length, and with the 15 minute break, there was enough buffer time for people to get between classrooms.

Remember, all feedback is anonymous, so be honest with your comments! Your constructive criticism will help us make WordCamp Toronto 2012 even better.

    Great event
    First day was five stars with lots of energy and great vibe

    Second half day started off rough and the mood hung over the event like a cloud with people drifting away to half or less the numbers
    Venue was great, lunch great, video coverage great

    Overall big improvements over previous years

    Hi Andy,

    Thanks for posting the feedback from WordCamp Toronto so quickly, boy was that fast. Good info for us on the WordCamp Detroit planning team (our event is five days away!). A question for you, have you looked into InstantWP? An easy way to install WordPress quickly. Not sure if it fits your requirements for the Sunday morning session.

      Hi Deborah,
      Not sure about the others, but I had never seen InstantWP before. I’m going to give it at try. Looks really promising!
      Desktop Server looks like an interesting option that runs on Windows and Mac OS.

    I haven’t seen Desktop Server before, thanks for the tip! I used InstantWP last month – love how easy it is to set up. Plus it can run from a USB.

    I filled out the session comments with a glowing response. You did a great job. I agree with the need for sessions for Middle Ground sessions. I fell into that category. That’s just a “something to consider next year.” About this year: great, Great, GREAT job! Thank you!

    I’ve voiced it many times already, but I’ll say it again. I was so happy to be part of the WordCamp Toronto speaker lineup. I told Craig and the other organizers that this event was leaps and bounds over the others I’d been to. Great job by everyone!
